Odessa is best known as the center of the Permian Basin oil patch. But it has quite a few other things going on there too. The Globe of the Great Southwest is a replica of William Shakspere's theater at Stratford on Avon. Dedicated in 1964, this was a project inspired by an Odessa High School Seniou English class taught by Marjorie Morris. In addition to producing the bard's plays, the theater hosts plays by other authers and musical productions. See the Globe Website here. TexasBob.com also has a nice write up on the history of the theater. If you are interested in learning about Texas the latter site is well worth the time.
